Consileon Austria was awarded 17 out of 20 lots offered in the largest-volume tender ever issued by Bundesbeschaffung GmbH (BBG) and is now co-responsible for the digitisation of the public sector in Austria. The framework agreement extends over five years and has a volume of 683 million euros, with over 2,500 institutions and authorities among the potential clients.
Now the IT-Welt Fachverlag conducted an interview with Harald Kohlberger, the managing partner of Consileon Austria, on the topic of “Digitalisation of the Public Sector in Austria”.
Austria has invested in digitalisation in recent years, especially due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Nevertheless, there is still untapped potential, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, where Austria lags behind countries like China and the USA.
Harald Kohlberger sees the greatest potential in the better design of digitalisation projects in order to avoid mistakes. In some areas, such as justice and financial administration, digitisation is already advanced, while education, mobility and the social sector still have to catch up. The cooperation between clients and contractors is crucial for the success of digitisation projects. A mindset shift and legislative changes may be needed to improve this cooperation.
