Electromobility

Just a trend or the future of mobility?

Nahaufnahme von ladendem E-Auto

The CASE model (connected, autonomous, shared, electrified) lists the electrification of mobility as one of the four megatrends in the automotive industry. The effects on the environment, society, and the economy are correspondingly far-reaching and profound. Suppliers specializing in mechanical components for combustion engines in particular are acutely endangered. Battery production and charging infrastructure, on the other hand, are opening up entirely new business areas that will make it easier for new players in particular to enter the billion-dollar “car” business. But this change also affects municipalities. Charging stations and e-scooters are already making their mark on the cityscape. But the technology is still in its infancy: While OEMs are working on optimizing battery technology and carriers are testing overhead lines on highways, hydrogen-based fuel cells are gaining momentum elsewhere. And customers ultimately have to cope with all these innovations, registering with one of 15 electricity providers to use their charging stations while trying to bolt on their wall boxes.
